Every week, Jewish runners from all generations come together to show Jewish pride, and get some exercise in. Nice Jewish Runners is a growing movement of Jewish running groups that use fitness as a way to build friendship, community, and Jewish pride. Founded by Ezra Feig in New York following the Oct. 7 attacks, the mission has grown into a network with chapters in at least 19 cities across five countries, attracting runners of different ages and backgrounds allowing younger people an approachable way to connect with Jewish life outside of synagogue.
These groups are about more than logging miles. Participants often run in blue apparel featuring a Star of David, gather afterward for coffee and babka, and organize Shabbat dinners and holiday events. At a time when some Jews may feel uneasy being visibly Jewish in public, Nice Jewish Runners create a supportive space for members to show up proudly for one another.
