TL;DR: Global Jewry is launching the GJ Prizes on September 8th. These two $10,000 awards celebrate the power of collaboration in Jewish life, honoring both impactful existing partnerships and bold new initiatives, and emphasizing that a stronger Jewish future depends on working together across geography and tradition. With everything going on in the world, I’ve found it uplifting to get emails asking me to nominate people for prizes celebrating extraordinary contributions to Jewish life. They’re reminders of hope and possibility — which is exactly why I’m so excited that Global Jewry is launching GJ Prizes tomorrow, September 8th, to focus on something often overlooked but desperately needed: collaboration.

The Global Jewry Prizes are two $10,000 awards that honor the power of Jewish organizations working together across geography, tradition, and perspective. Collaboration is not only our core mission — it is the foundation for a stronger Jewish future.

We are proud to introduce:

The Shoshana Shoubin Cardin Prize for Exemplary Collaboration — recognizing a partnership that has already achieved meaningful and measurable impact.

The Global Jewry Prize for Emerging Collaboration — supporting a bold new initiative that brings partners together in creative and promising ways.

These prizes stand out because they honor not what any single organization can achieve alone, but what becomes possible when we build with one another.

The selection process will be guided by an extraordinary committee of Jewish leaders from around the world, the honorary co-chairs of which are Avital and Natan Sharansky, along with Ambassador Stuart E. Eizenstat — people who have spent their lives building trust and bridging divides.

You can learn more about the prizes, our incredible selection committee and the nomination process at globaljewry.org/prizes. Whether you’re already part of a transformative partnership or preparing to launch a new one, we hope you’ll join us on this journey.

Because these prizes are not just awards. They’re an invitation. A spark. And a celebration of the connections that make our people stronger together.

Follow Global Jewry for updates — and help us honor the partners, pioneers, and collaborators lighting the way forward.

Shavua tov, and may this be the week the hostages return home,

Sandy Cardin
