What We Do

ShalomLearning is transforming Jewish education with innovative, values-based programs for students in grades K–7. Our dynamic Jewish Values and Hebrew programs adapt to the evolving needs of students, families, educators, and communities, and are proven effective in-person and online.

We are currently serving 200 synagogues, 1,600 teachers, and 11,000 students in the US and abroad. We equip Jewish educators with the tools, training, and support they need to teach with confidence and make a lasting impact. As a result, Jewish learning becomes more engaging, accessible, and relevant to modern life. ShalomLearning instills a lifelong love of learning, empowering students to embrace Jewish values, connect with Israel and their heritage, and engage confidently in Jewish life, now and in the future.

Ultimately, ShalomLearning advances Jewish continuity through education, ensuring the next generation is informed, connected, and proud. Our current initiatives include a renewed focus on Israel, integrating AI to enrich the student experience, and expanding programming to address antisemitism.

Our Programs

In-Person

Jewish Values, Jewish Pride & Unity, and Hebrew Programs

ShalomLearning’s Jewish Values, Jewish Pride & Unity, and Hebrew programs are designed to thrive in the physical classroom for students in grades K-7. Partner synagogues and religious schools receive complete, ready-to-teach lesson plans, adaptable presentation slides, instructional videos, songs, discussion questions, and teacher support materials for every unit — enabling educators to facilitate dynamic, engaging in-person learning without building lesson plans or curriculum from scratch.

Our blended learning model combines the best of digital content with the irreplaceable warmth of face-to-face Jewish community. Teachers seamlessly integrate online components into classroom sessions and/or deliver entirely in-person lessons using our materials. This flexibility allows each school to build a program that fits its community. Partner schools consistently report improved student engagement and attendance compared to their experiences with traditional Hebrew school models.

Our programs are successful in a range of settings from large, urban congregations (Reform, Conservative, and Reconstructionist), to small rural congregations, and everything in between. We are currently serving 14% of the congregational schools in the US and with philanthropic support we can serve more congregations – especially those who are struggling – by providing direct financial assistance. Donations can be made to sponsor a student, teacher, classroom, or synagogue here.

Online

Jewish Values and Hebrew Programs

For the Jewish child whose nearest synagogue is hours away, whose family moves every few years with the military, or whose small community cannot recruit a qualified teacher, ShalomLearning’s online program is a pathway to a Jewish education.

ShalomLearning’s thriving online school serves 200 students. A faculty of dedicated teachers delivers more than 30 classes each week offering Hebrew language instruction (reading and prayer) and our signature Jewish Values program.

The model is flexible – students log-in via Zoom individually from home, other remote locations, or as class from their own synagogue, experiencing both live online instruction and learning as a group. Students participate from 15 communities across North America and as far as Nairobi, Kenya.

ShalomLearning’s online Hebrew program also serves established Jewish communities that are reimagining how they use their in-person time together. In the greater Atlanta area, synagogues rely on ShalomLearning to deliver Hebrew instruction online during the weekdays, freeing their Sunday school hours for community building and experiential programming.

The infrastructure to reach thousands of students is already built. What ShalomLearning needs now is philanthropic support to reach more communities, families, and children. Every dollar donated here is a direct investment in Jewish continuity.

Testimonials

“Anchored by Jewish history, sacred texts, Israel, and more, ShalomLearning’s program represents an investment in the kind of future we want to build: one rooted in empathy, ethical thinking, and a strong Jewish identity. It bridges tradition with daily life, giving students the tools to navigate the world with confidence, character, and a sense of purpose…Students feel seen, guided, and inspired. Their Jewish heritage becomes a source of pride and leadership, not just knowledge.”

Barry Shainker
Education Director, New York City

We appreciate ShalomLearning’s values-based approach to Jewish learning. It is important to me that our students learn that being Jewish doesn’t only happen within the synagogue walls but rather is a way of approaching life and interacting with other people.

Judy Limor
Education Director, Temple Beth Tikvah

“My primary goal in using ShalomLearning was to improve teacher training. Before we started, my teachers struggled with the “anatomy” of a one-hour session and how to break it down in a developmentally appropriate way. The curriculum has completely changed that; it gives my teachers exactly what they need. Now, even when they supplement with additional holiday materials, they have a clear structure to follow, modeling their own lessons after the ShalomLearning framework. It solved a major problem for us.”

Education Director, Ashreynu
