Digital marketing is a powerful tool for telling your story, engaging your audience, and achieving your mission. Here are five tips to help you utilize the capabilities of the digital world in 2025.
1. Know Your Audience and Meet Them Where They Are
Understanding your audience is critical to building meaningful connections. Consider who you’re trying to reach, whether it’s teens engaging with their Jewish identity, young families seeking community programs, or donors looking to support impactful work. Tailor your content and choose platforms based on their preferences. For example, Instagram and TikTok are great for younger audiences, while Facebook and email marketing might better engage parents and older supporters.
2. Share Stories That Inspire and Connect
Stories are at the heart of every successful digital campaign. They create emotional connections and demonstrate the impact of your work. Whether it’s a participant’s transformative experience on a program or the story behind a new initiative, let these narratives drive your content. Use compelling visuals, video, and testimonials to bring your stories to life and build trust with your audience.
3. Leverage Tools Designed for Nonprofits
Take advantage of tools specifically designed to support nonprofit organizations. Google Workspace for Nonprofits can streamline collaboration and communications, while the Google Ad Grant offers up to $10,000 per month in free advertising on Google Search to help you reach new audiences. Both are game-changers for organizations with limited resources, allowing you to extend your reach and enhance efficiency without stretching your budget. Additionally, Canva Pro’s free access for nonprofits provides invaluable resources for creating polished, high-impact visuals to enhance your digital presence.
4. Align Your Digital Content with the Jewish Calendar
The Jewish calendar provides built-in opportunities to engage your community throughout the year. From weekly Shabbat celebrations to major holidays like Rosh Hashanah and Hanukkah, these moments are perfect for connecting with your audience in authentic, meaningful ways. Create a content calendar that highlights key dates, sharing reflections, educational posts, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of your celebrations and commemorations to foster deeper engagement.
5. Stay Focused While Adopting New Tools
With new tools and platforms emerging constantly, it’s tempting to try everything. However, the most effective digital strategies are focused and intentional. While experimenting with new platforms like Threads or utilizing interactive features like Instagram polls, prioritize what works best for your audience. Thoughtful experimentation can help you innovate without overwhelming your team or straying from your mission.
A Thoughtful Start to the New Year
Digital marketing and social media offers Jewish organizations an incredible opportunity to grow, connect, and inspire in 2025. By understanding your audience, leveraging nonprofit tools, and sharing impactful stories, you can make a meaningful difference in your community.
